They might be impressing in Australia right now as they take it to England in the Ashes but some of Australia’s top cricketers are also keen golfers.

Given the hand-eye coordination factor involved in cricket, it seems logical that a lot of the top players in the world try their hand at golf.

Top stars like Kevin Pietersen are known lovers of golf, while England great Stuart Broad is also a keen golfer as well.

But, when it comes to the Aussies, it’s a little less known as to who is the top dog out of the current crop.

However, thanks to recent round ahead of the next Ashes test, we now have a good idea who is the best of the bunch.

Australian cricket’s best golfer by handicap

It goes without saying that this Australian cricket team are riding high right now given how they’ve started the current Ashes series.

And showing off their confidence prior to the third test, it’s now been revealed who the best golfer is.

According to The Mail, the top golfer among the Australians according to their handicap is Mitchell Starc, who plays off seven.

Behind him, star batsman Steve Smith plays off around the 13 mark, while fellow batter Marnus Labuschagne plays off a handicap of 14.

The report also nods towards former New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori, who plays off seven, while popular all-rounder Beau Webster plays off a very respectable five handicap.

England’s top cricketer golfers

There are some excellent golfers in the England cricket ranks and just like the Australians, it is a keen pasttime for many of the current squad.

Zak Crawley is said to be the best, playing off a handicap of just one, while Ollie Pope is also impressive with his 4.5 handicap.

Legends like Andrew Strauss and James Anderson are also keen golfers in the low single digits, while current England skipper Ben Stokes also plays off around four.

So, while the cricket might not be going great for England right now, it does seem like they’d get the upper-hand in any golf tournament.
