Danny Mills has said on talkSPORT (10:29am, July 1, 2022) that he cannot understand why Leeds United are signing Darko Gyabi from Manchester City.
The former Leeds star does not think that Manchester City midfielder Gyabi would be a good signing for the West Yorkshire club.
As reported by Leeds Live, Kalvin Phillips is on the verge of joining Premier League champions City from Leeds for an initial transfer fee of £42 million.
The report has claimed that 18-year-old midfielder Gyabi will move to Leeds from City in a separate deal worth £5 million.

Danny Mills on Leeds United target Darko Gyabi
Mills said on talkSPORT (10:29am, July 1, 2022), as transcribed by Leeds Live: “Leeds are going to buy a Manchester City 18-year-old for £5 million who has never played in the first team.
“Clearly the deals are linked in some way, but again that seems… you’re selling Kalvin Phillips for £42 million and then buying an unproven teenager that they took from Millwall at 14-years-old, now 18 and who has never been near the first team for £5 million.”
One for the future
In our view, Leeds United are signing Darko Gyabi from Manchester City for the future.
As Mills notes, the teenager is not part of the City first team, and it is unlikely that he will play for the senior Leeds side straightaway.
We think that Leeds are planning to sign the 18-year-old for their academy for now and then dually get him into the senior set-up.
The box-to-box midfielder will hope to impress in the Leeds youth team for now, and he could well prove to be a bargain signing in a few years’ time.
