Former Whites player, manager and now club ambassador Eddie Gray explained why he believes Thomas Christiansen will have been happy with his players, following their 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in the Carabao Cup last night, when speaking exclusively to LUTV.

Leeds have impressed on the whole this season, and currently find themselves sitting comfortably in fourth position in the table, despite a sticky patch that started last month which saw them lose four out of five league games.

The west Yorkshire outfit put in a good account of themselves at the King Power Stadium last night, and held the 2015/16 Premier League Champions for 71 minutes, before the the Foxes’ superior quality eventually paid dividends.

And Gray told LUTV how the Leeds players should be proud of their performance, highlighting how Christiansen will have been pleased with what he saw last night:

“I thought we played well tonight [against Leicester] especially in the first-half. I think Thomas will be pleased with how the players performed. I think the players can take a lot of confidence from coming to another Premier League ground, like they did against Burnley, and giving a good amount of themselves.”

Getting dumped out of the cup might actually be a blessing in disguise for the Whites, what with such a busy and physically punishing schedule ahead of them.

Christiansen’s men face crucial back-to-back home games against Sheffield United and Derby County in the Championship over the course of next week, and a return of six points from those outings will quickly hep banish the memory of last night’s defeat to Leicester.
