Alex Pereira isn’t willing to let his loss to Ciryl Gane go without appeal.

On Sunday night, Alex Pereira suffered only his second knockout defeat in the UFC, this time against Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250.

The Frenchman got the job done in round two, dropping ‘Poatan’ with a stiff jab before closing it out with some heavy shots on the ground.

However, since returning to Brazil and having time to digest the result, Pereira has issued his first statement via Twitter. In it, he reveals anger at Dean’s actions and even calls for consequences for what happened inside Freedom 250’s octagon.

Pereira labels Herb Dean a ‘coward’ and calls for an immediate rematch

Gane entered the interim title fight with added scrutiny after his previous bout against Tom Aspinall was cut short due to repeated eye pokes.

Already facing questions about his fighting style, Gane found himself under more criticism when Aspinall accused him of landing illegal shots to the back of Pereira’s head during the finishing sequence.

In response, Pereira has told the UFC he wants an immediate rematch, feeling the circumstances around the stoppage were enough to warrant another fight.

“After the event we were in the hotel and I got a call, we’ve already spoken,” Pereira said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“The next step, I explained to them, I spoke to them about the illegal shots and it was a fight that was good and the tendency to grow the show it was starting up, I said the right thing is an immediate rematch.

“I spoke to the organization and they asked for some time to get an answer because so much was happening, the event had just happened, they are gonna see what they are gonna do. I’m gonna wait a bit but very soon we will have an answer.”

Despite Pereira’s request for another shot at Gane right away, Ciryl Gane is pushing for a title unification bout with Tom Aspinall in September at an event set for Paris. And Aspinall has made it clear he’s interested too, now that he’s back in training after dealing with multiple eye surgeries.
