Everton are likely to spend again with the transfer window set to reopen.
The January transfer window is set to open soon and Everton will certainly be seeking to add to their squad.
After spending heavily in the summer, Everton endured a difficult start to the campaign before showing significant signs of improvement following the appointment of manager Sam Allardyce.
Allardyce is likely to want to make further additions at Goodison Park but in which position do Everton need to strengthen the most?
A new left-back would certainly be welcome but if Leighton Baines stays fit and Luke Garbutt is registered to play in the Premier League, that issue can be addressed.
Signing a new centre-back would help Everton but Allardyce has managed to make the team more resilient with the resources that they already possess.
A new striker, then, is perhaps the biggest requirement for Everton is this transfer window. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is talented but still rather raw, Oumar Niasse doesn’t appear to be in favour under Allardyce and Sandro Ramirez has failed to settle since joining from Malaga.
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke, who has prior experience of working with Allardyce, or Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, who almost joined Everton in the summer, as reported by Sky Sports, would be good options to consider, with Benteke the more realistic choice.
