Which players look likely to leave Norwich City in the summer?

The Canaries top the Championship and look likely to be in the Premier League next season.

It’s been a great season for Norwich City, who are top of the Championship table and very well placed for promotion to the Premier League amid a hotly-contested race for the title.

The Canaries are five points clear of third-placed Leeds United, though with the amount of twists and turns that have taken place so far, there cannot be any letting up in the remaining eight games.

Despite the uncertainty – of the good kind, of course – regarding what league they’ll be in, Norwich boss Daniel Farke will likely have cast an eye upon how his squad could look next season, or more accurately, who he could be looking to let go.

Looking at the players who are out of contract at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), veteran goalkeeper Michael McGovern has seen little action during his time at Carrow Road and looks likely to leave, while Ivo Pinto was reportedly close to a January departure (Eastern Daily Press) and will probably also up sticks.

Timm Klose has enjoyed a decent amount of game time and it was suggested in the Eastern Daily Press that he may be in line for a pay cut as part of a newer deal, but that could well depend on whether the club is promoted or not and also what better offers he may get in the summer.

Todd Cantwell, meanwhile, is believed by the same outlet to have been in discussions over a new deal this year, but again, promotion could have a big say in this, so it’s a close one to call regarding whether he could leave or not.

As for those whose contracts run beyond the summer, Dennis Srbeny has not impressed since his January 2018 move from Paderborn, with just four goals from 33 appearances, and if he has not impressed in the Championship, he is even less likely to shine in the Premier League.

Then there are a number of loanees who have been surplus to requirements and could well leave in the summer – James Husband, Ben Marshall, Nelson Oliveira, Matt Jarvis, Marcel Franke, Steven Naismith and Yanic Wildschut will probably all be allowed to find a new club.
