The Everton manager will have some difficult decisions to make about the club’s injured players.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Everton at St. James Park on December 13, 2017 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

In less than a month in charge, Sam Allardyce has helped to greatly improve Everton’s fortunes.

Having previously appeared to be in serious danger of relegation, Everton are now up to ninth place in the Premier League and have improved both defensively and in an attacking sense.

Allardyce has made good use of his squad and will look to make further additions in January, but he must also consider which of the club’s players who are currently injured will be part of his plans.

Seamus Coleman

Still recovering from a broken leg, Coleman will hope to reclaim his place in the Everton starting lineup once he is fully fit, even though he faces competition from talented youngster Jonjoe Kenny, who recently signed a new contract.

Ross Barkley

Barkley hasn’t played all season due to a thigh injury and speculation regarding his future has persisted given that he is out of contract at the end of the season. It wouldn’t be a major surprise if Barkley was to leave the club either in January or the summer.

Maarten Stekelnburg

The experienced goalkeeper is out with a groin strain but once he is back it is difficult to envisage him getting ahead of Jordan Pickford in the pecking order.

Yannick Bolasie

Yannick Bolasie of Everton shoots during the Premier League match between Everton and Swansea City at Goodison Park on November 19, 2016 in Liverpool, England.

Bolasie hasn’t played a competitive game for over a year after rupturing his cruciate ligament, but the talented winger is likely to be given an opportunity to prove his worth under Allardyce.

James McCarthy

The combative central midfielder is out with a hamstring problem and has endured much misfortune on the injury front in recent years.

McCarthy is, though, a player who could work well under Allardyce, and may well still have a future at the club.

Leighton Baines

Currently out with a calf strain, it is clear that Baines isn’t the player he once was, but the left-back’s experience will still be seen as valuable by Allardyce.

Ramiro Funes Mori

The centre-back isn’t likely to return until April following a serious knee problem, but it may be difficult for him to get into the side once fully fit, with Mason Holgate performing well.
