Which Arsenal player had his BEST game of the season against Liverpool?

Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny may have shipped five, but he also made more saves than in any other game so far.

He certainly didn’t enjoy it, but Wojciech Szczesny played a major part in ensuring Arsenal only conceded five against Liverpool.

Writing after the game on his Facebook, he wrote: “That was f****ing embarrassing, apologies to anyone who sat through 90mins of that game.”

From a personal point of view, the Polish goalkeeper set a landmark in the match, which says a lot about Liverpool’s attacking and the club’s defence too.

He made seven saves in the 5-1 defeat, the most he has made in any Premier League game all season.

It says a lot about Liverpool’s dominance, that they kept Arsenal under pressure and Szczesny was so busy the entire game.

Szczesny last week was singled out in an article in The Mail as Arsenal’s weak link, even if statistical evidence for the season pointed to the contrary.

With Arsenal’s midfield and defence unable to keep a rampant Liverpool at bay from the very first minute of the game, it was the Pole who emerged from the game as one of the only Gunners to take some semblance of credit from the game, badly exposed and hardly at fault for the goals.

As the business end of the season cranks up, it is perhaps at least one positive Arsenal can take from such a chastening defeat.
