Leeds United are linked to a few exciting wingers and Kemar Roofe should be excited if it happens.
Leeds United fans have every right to be excited about the early summer transfer rumours – and so should Kemar Roofe.
According to The Daily Record up in Scotland, Leeds have made a move for Liverpool winger Ryan Kent, while The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed earlier this month that Wolves’ Helder Costa was also on the radar.
The Whites already have a very strong first XI if everybody is available, but the addition of Costa and Kent would improve that significantly.
Kent was superb in Glasgow last season following a loan spell with Rangers and although the Wolves star struggled in the Premier League, five goals and six assists in the Championship during the 2017-18 campaign suggests that he’d add something to United’s attack.
Hypothetically, Kent and Costa could line up one either flank and support lone striker Kemar Roofe who, if fit, will score goals.
Behind Roofe, there’s the creativity of Pablo Hernandez, arguably Leeds’ best player last term, with Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips continuing in midfield.
Roofe, a £3 million in 2016 [Yorkshire Post], managed 15 Championship goals in 28 starts last season, which isn’t an outstanding record, but it’s by no means poor and he should be particularly excited if Kent and Costa are both signed.
With the two of them and Hernandez feeding him from a number 10 role, he would stand to score quite a lot of goals next term. Strikers can only eat what they’re fed and, in those three, Roofe could be served a feast of chances.
