Madger Gomes has failed to appear for the Leeds first team since August.

Back in the summer, Leeds United confirmed the signing of promising midfielder Madger Gomes on a free transfer from Liverpool but what has happened to the youngster?
The 21-year-old starred in Leeds pre-season trip to Austria, featuring against Borussia Monchengladbach and Eibar, before starting the 2017-18 campaign with two early first-team appearances.
He played against Port Vale and Newport County in the Carabao Cup, helping Leeds earn 4-1 and 5-1 victories over the lower league opposition before only earning a place on the bench against Burnley in the next round.

However, as far as first-team involvement goes, that was literally it for the Spaniard as he has failed to feature in any matchday squads since his two appearances for the Yorkshire giants.
You would think, then, that he has been a prominent member of Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side. You would be wrong.
He made only his first appearance for Leeds’ second string in over six months in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Bradford City’s second string – a match which Corberan’s side won 3-0.
It is unclear whether Gomes has been sidelined through injury or has simply been out of favour, but with a contract until the summer of 2020, it is certainly concerning that another gamble by Victor Orta has failed to pay off.
It remains to be seen if the Spain Under-18 international will be given another first-team chance, or indeed game time in the seconds, as he looks to revive his Leeds career.
