Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel, Barry Ferguson has waxed lyrical about Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro.
The Rangers legend was discussing the aftermath of Saturday’s Old Firm Derby and he commended Neil Lennon’s decision to play Soro in such a big game, and he says that the risk paid off.
Indeed, Ferguson has said that he’s impressed every time he sees Soro play, and he pondered why he hasn’t been involved more often for the Bhoys.
“He made some big calls, to play Soro, Turnbull, and I know they’ve been playing well, but we know what happened in the Cup Final, he brought Scott Brown Back.
“But I thought Soro, every time I see him I’m impressed with him.
“He did come in, was it in the January transfer window? I think so, you know what it’s like when a new signing comes in from a different country, it takes them time to settle, but where has he been since the start of the season? Because I’ve been impressed with him.”

This is something of a bittersweet comment to hear from Ferguson if you’re a Celtic fan.
On one hand, it’s great to hear a Rangers legend hold his hands up and admit that Celtic have a fantastic player on their books, but on the other hand, it makes you wonder why he’s not played more.
Soro has played just 549 minutes in all competitions this season, struggling to get off of the bench for most games at the beginning of the campaign, and it’s no coincidence that Celtic have performed much better when he has played, winning six out of the seven matches he has appeared in, conceding just one goal during that time.
The midfielder has even earned comparisons to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
Hopefully, Soro can keep up these good performances and he continues to become more and more important to Neil Lennon’s side.
