Ipswich Town’s rise to the top saw them do something very few are capable of and that is double promotion, making their way from League One to the Premier League in just two seasons.
Under the guidance of Kieran McKenna, the Tractor Boys made a rapid climb from the third tier to the first and will be aiming to now establish themselves there.
With that has come some understandable squad churn, with players coming and going at Portman Road over the past few years as they look to scale up quickly.
There have still been some moves in the market as former players seal their futures with new clubs and new challenges.
So with that said, here’s a look at where every Ipswich Town player who sealed double promotion is now.

Which Ipswich players stayed after double promotion?
While there are a few who joined the journey in the Championship and the Premier League, Ipswich still have a whole host of players who made their way from League One to the top.
There are still plenty of those stars remaining in the squad, with the following still there from that double promotion:
- Christian Walton
- Luke Woolfenden
- Cameron Burgess
- Leif Davis
- Harry Clarke
- Sam Morsy
- Massimo Luongo
- Nathan Broadhead
- Wes Burns
- Conor Chaplin
- George Hirst
It shows the core of the squad that has been worked with up until this point, but there are a few who didn’t quite make it past the double promotion.
Which Ipswich players left after double promotion and where are they now?
Kayden Jackson – Derby County

Kayden Jackson was one of the longest-serving members of the Ipswich squad, joining the club in 2018 from Accrington Stanley.
The forward saw all the highs and the lows at Portman Road before moving to Derby County on a free transfer in the summer.
In six appearances across all competitions, Jackson has bagged three goals and one assist to get off to a flying start with the Rams.
Vaclav Hladky – Burnley

Vaclav Hladky was key in all phases for Ipswich after taking over as first-choice goalkeeper last season.
The 33-year-old made outstanding saves to keep his side in plenty of games, while his footwork with the ball saw him start many attacks.
A new deal couldn’t be agreed for him though and he eventually joined Burnley on a free transfer over the summer.
George Edmundson – Middlesbrough on loan

Centre-back George Edmundson joined in the third tier and played an important role off the bench in most games to help the Tractor Boys over the line.
While he is still under contract at the club, he has since joined Middlesbrough on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.
Janoi Donacien – free agent

Janoi Donacien is another Ipswich stalwart, joining from Accrington Stanley in 2018 and moving from a wantaway signing to a key defensive option.
Injury impacted him in the Championship, leading to him only making three appearances, but he was important nonetheless.
The defender is currently a free agent as he looks to work his way back from a groin injury he picked up last year.
Dom Ball – Leyton Orient

Midfielder Dom Ball joined Ipswich on a free transfer from QPR in 2022, helping the side earn a double promotion.
He has since become a free agent and eventually joined Leyton Orient in League One for their campaign.
Cameron Humphreys – on loan at Wycombe Wanderers

Cameron Humphreys came through the Ipswich academy to play a key role in some clashes during the League One campaign.
The youngster saw reduced minutes in the Championship, which has since seen him join League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers on loan for the season.
Marcus Harness – on loan at Derby County

Marcus Harness joined from Portsmouth in the 2022 campaign and helped add further depth upfront for both promotions.
He is now spending the season on loan at Derby County, following a deadline-day switch to the Championship.
Freddie Ladapo – Huddersfield Town

Striker Freddie Ladapo was key in the League One promotion campaign before he played more of a reserve role during the Championship season – spending the second half of it on loan at Charlton.
While he still had time left on his contract, Ipswich released the 31-year-old after the transfer deadline passed.
Ladapo has since made the switch to League One promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town.
Sone Aluko – retired

Sone Aluko joined Ipswich on a free transfer back in 2021, making 62 appearances for the club in three years.
The 35-year-old was more of a squad player but eventually decided to hang up his boots and retire at the end of his contract with the Blues.
