Gordon Strachan has said on Football Pass that he has been impressed by Celtic midfielder David Turnbull.

The former Celtic manager has said that Turnbull often does something that takes him by surprise.

Strachan said on Football Pass: “Turnbull especially has got something different about him at the moment.

“He can do something that when I watch a game, I can easily see something coming, but Turnbull can bring in something that I go, ‘I like that. Where did that come from?’ But in the same way I kind of expect it after watching him for a few years.”

Important player for Celtic

Celtic are not having a good season, and not many players can say that they have done well.

Turnbull is one of the very few players who have done relatively well, and the progress that the 21-year-old is making is remarkable.

The 21-year-old is a very dynamic footballer in the middle of the park who can impose himself on the game, create chances and hold his own.

The Scotland Under-21 international midfielder has made 20 starts and six substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic so far this season, scoring six goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Turnbull also scored one goal and provided one assist in one Europa League appearance for the Hoops this campaign, according to WhoScored.

The youngster will be a massive player for Celtic against Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
