We catch up with some of the youngsters who have left Charlton Athletic in recent years.

Former Charlton Athletic academy graduate Diego Poyet is now playing his football abroad.

Poyet, the son of Gus, left the Addicks in 2014 to sign for West Ham United. The midfielder failed to break into the Hammers’ first-team, spending time on loan at Huddersfield Town, MK Dons and back with Charlton, before he was released in the summer. Earlier this month, he signed for Argentine Primera Division side Godoy Cruz.

Ade Azeez is another ex-Charlton youngster to be playing outside of English football. The striker, 23, spent two seasons with AFC Wimbledon following his release from the Robins in the summer of 2014. After helping the Dons win promotion to League One, Azeez joined Patrick Thistle, where he has scored one league goal in 25 appearances.

Joe Pigott and Danny Green are among the former Charlton academy prospects to play in League Two.

Piggott, who left the Addicks in July, featured ten times for Cambridge United before being sent out on loan to non-league side Maidstone United. The forward scored in the Stones’ recent 4-2 win over Chester FC.

Green left Charlton’s academy in 2003 only to return eight years later following spells at Nottingham Forest, Bishop Stortford and Dagenham and Redbridge. The winger, 28, currently plays for play-off contenders Luton Town.

Oliver Muldoon and Scott Wagstaff are now competition against the Robins in League One. Muldoon, 22, was let go by Charlton earlier this month and has since been given a contract by Gillingham, while Wagstaff has been with the Gills since the summer.

Callum Harriot, Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, Morgan Fox and Rob Elliot are all pushing to win promotion from the Championship with their respective clubs.

Elliot plays for table-topping Newcastle United. The goalkeeper, who spent seven years at the Valley, is waiting for a first-team opportunity after recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Fox has helped Sheffield Wednesday to two wins out of three since arriving from Charlton in the January transfer window. The left-back missed the last two fixtures after twisting his ankle in the win over Nottingham Forest.

Holmes-Dennis was part of the Huddersfield Town side that held Manchester City to a goalless draw in the fifth round of the FA Cup. As well as featuring in every round of the cup for the Terriers, Holmes-Dennis has made six league appearances, including their recent 3-2 win over Rotherham United.

Injuries have kept Callum Harriott out of the Reading starting-eleven since the beginning of January. The winger scored in his most recent league appearance, as Jaap Stam’s side overcame Norwich City 3-1 at the Madejski Stadium back in December.

Two ex-Charlton youngsters to be flying high in the Premier League are Carl Jenkinson and Ademola Lookman.

Jenkinson joined Arsenal from the Robins in 2011 before spending two seasons on loan with West Ham. He is now back with the Gunners first-team, but has only featured once in the league all season.

Lookman already has five appearances and a Premier League goal to his name, following his January move to Ronald Koeman’s Everton. The tricky winger scored minutes into his Toffees debut against Manchester City.
