Jurgen Klopp has stated that Newcastle United have some ‘really good players’ and is adamant that they didn’t deserve to lose 4-0 during their last game, as he told his pre-match press conference.

The German added that Newcastle are ‘more’ offensive under their new manager, Eddie Howe, as he praised him for the ‘influence’ he has had on the team.

Newcastle United will travel to Anfield on Thursday night to face-off against the Premier League title-chasers and the highest scorers in the division.

After watching one of their relegation rivals – Leeds United – get smoked at Manchester City on Tuesday night, it wouldn’t be a surprise if there are more nerves from the Toon Army faithful travelling down to Merseyside.

Many are expecting a pretty comfortable victory for the Reds, but Klopp is well aware, with tough fixtures to come for the Magpies, they will be fighting with every fibre.

“Newcastle, when you look at the team,” said Klopp. “That’s a really good football team. In all positions, they have really good players.

“The Leicester game when you watched it, it wasn’t a 4-0. It was a 4-0, obviously. But it didn’t look like it. They had their chances, their moments and they had possession. And that’s the team we expect, not the team that lost 4-0 to Leicester.

“Newcastle doesn’t have endless time to get out of that situation. After us, they play Man City and Man United, if I’m not 100% right, so it obviously doesn’t get much easier, so we expect them to be fighting for everything.

“More possession, more shots, more shots on target and more shots in general, so obviously more offensive – Eddie has been there for a few weeks and you can see his influence.”

Albeit under different circumstances and coach, this Newcastle side did secure a very late point at Liverpool last season.

And those travelling fans will probably snatch your hand off to claim another point tonight in their quest for survival.

This could become pretty tricky for Newcastle because they might just be on the wrong end of results if things don’t go right.

And heading into the January transfer window, they want less panic as possible even though it’s obvious that they are desperate for players.
