Jose Enrique has claimed on his Instagram story that Daniel Levy has ‘listened’ to Antonio Conte by backing the Tottenham manager in the market, as he used Ivan Perisic as an example.

The former left-back added that Perisic, who arrived on a free transfer after leaving Inter Milan in the summer, was a ‘great signing’ by Spurs and that’s what happens when you back a ‘top manager’ like Conte.

At 33, Perisic has come to play a key role for Spurs, after working alongside Conte in Milan, but would he normally be a player Levy would bring through the doors at Hotspur Way?

Well, the likes of Fernando Llorente have been signed before, but as a back-up to Harry Kane, for Perisic, he is playing a more central role in the XI, than the former striker did.

Given how much is asked of Tottenham’s wing-backs, the early part of the season has seen Conte rotating between Ryan Sessegnon and Perisic at right wing-back.

When a stat emerged that Perisic has the best cross-success rate (48.3%) in the Premier League this season, Enrique issued the following response:

“When you (Levy) listen to your manager and sign the players that he wants, and if he is a top manager like Conte is, then normally they get it right,” said Enrique. “Great signing by Spurs.”

WILL PERISIC START NORTH LONDON DERBY?

The Croatian star has stated four Premier League games for Spurs this season, including supplying an assist as the unbeaten London side thrashed Leicester City 6-2 last time out.

But whilst Spurs had to deal with bottom-of-the-table fodder before the international break, they are now shooting straight to the top because they have to deal with Mikel Arteta’s flying table-toppers at the weekend.

Sessegnon is growing as a player under Conte, but going into the fire pit of the north London derby at the Emirates, will the Italian push for experience instead?

Either way, this is why players like Perisic are signed, to provide Conte with depth in quality and it’s why Levy had no choice but to fully back him in the summer.
