Gareth Southgate will soon be forced to pick his EURO 2024 England side in the coming months.

This could be set to be the hardest choice yet for the England manager. The Three Lions possesses a squad brimming with a plethora of talent in all areas of the pitch.

When is the England Euro 2024 squad announcement?

According to the last tournament, Southgate would be expected to confirm his Euro 2024 squad by Tuesday the 4th of June 2024.

The deadline for the final squads for Euro 2020 was midnight on Tuesday the 1st of June 2021 – with the tournament getting underway on Friday the 11th of June 2021

If UEFA follows the same format then Southgate would be expected to confirm his Euro 2024 squad by Tuesday, June 4 2024- with the tournament starting ten days later on June 14 2024.

What is the squad size at Euro 2024?

UEFA has confirmed that the squad size for Euro 2024 will be 23 players.

This is a reduction in the 26 players that managers could include in their squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

The cap was raised from the traditional 23 players for Euro 2020 because of the pandemic and was increased for the World Cup 2022 to ease the burden on players as the tournament was being held in the middle of a hectic season, with the Qatar tournament held in November. Now, things are back to normal for Euro 2024.

With three goalkeepers as customary – this means just 20 outfield players will be picked. So who will make the cut? Well, that’s down to Gareth Southgate. All will be revealed in the coming months.
