Paul Merson has reacted to Josh Kroenke doing an interview with Sky and claimed that the Arsenal director wouldn’t have done it when Tottenham were sitting top of the Premier League table, as he told Sky Sports PL (05/11/21 at 10:30 pm).
It seems a long time ago now given everything that has happened, but after three games of the season, Arsenal were sitting bottom, with Spurs topping the Premier League Christmas tree.
But it just goes to show how a lot can change in a few months because, heading into the festive period, Spurs have since sacked their manager and Arsenal are unbeaten after nine matches.
It’s perhaps why Josh Kroenke, the son of the club’s owner Stan, has come out and conducted an interview with Sky Sports, where he has spoken all things Arsenal, their current state, where they are heading and the infamous call to try and enter the European Super League.
It’s a rare glimpse of those in the Arsenal boardroom actually coming out and speaking to their supporters.
Ex-Highbury man Merson has been critical of his former club in the past, as he spoke about the mood change at the Emirates in recent weeks and Kroenke Jnr’s interview.
On the mood around Arsenal: “Oh, unbelievable,” said Merson. “What they have done is they have beaten the teams they are expected to beat.
“The test comes, against Watford on Super Sunday, beat them and then the big one against Liverpool.
On it’s a good team for Josh Kroenke to do his interview: “Well, he wasn’t coming out after three games when they were bottom and Tottenham were top.”

The key thing with Arsenal is that the fans are now starting to see some change and progression, especially in the style of play and, for once, the words ‘trust the process’ can actually be, well, trusted.
But, of course, that can all change with a few defeats, which also includes against Watford later on today.
Claudio Ranieri is the man in Watford’s dugout – three games, two defeats and one win to his name.
If the Gunners can secure three points on home soil, then they can move into fifth spot and level on points with fourth-placed West Ham.
