Tiger Woods will miss the start of the 2026 TGL season as he continues to recover from back and Achilles surgery.

The 15-time major winner, who co-owns Jupiter Links GC, is still working his way back after undergoing disc replacement surgery in October.

He remains committed to attending every team match, even if he cannot play, maintaining his role as both captain and co-founder of the league.

His latest update offered the clearest picture yet of when fans might see him inside the simulator arena.

The focus now shifts to whether Woods can feature before the 2026 season wraps up in March.

What Tiger Woods said about playing in TGL this season

Woods addressed his status ahead of the Hero World Challenge in December, giving a candid assessment of his progress and availability.

Speaking to reporters, he shared an honest view of how far along he is in his recovery and when he could realistically compete again.

“I won’t be able to play the first part of the TGL season, but I will be there every match Jupiter Links competes in,” Woods said.

“Hopefully, I will be able to maybe play the end of the season here and there, but I don’t know. I just started chipping and putting.

“I got to hit more shots than just chip and putt in TGL. There are a few drives I might have to hit.”

His latest comments suggest a realistic, patient approach to his return – one that prioritises long-term health over rushing back to competition.

For now, Woods plans to support his Jupiter Links teammates courtside while continuing to build strength and rhythm.

Jupiter Links GC will open their 2026 campaign on January 13, followed by fixtures on January 20, February 2, March 1, and March 3.

The schedule gives Woods a limited window to rejoin competition before the league’s first regular season ends in early March.

Given his current stage of recovery – cleared only for short-game practice – a realistic target for a debut could be the March fixtures, provided he begins full-swing testing early in the new year.

That would allow time for conditioning and performance assessment before stepping back into competition.
