Senna Agius has been making a name for himself in the MotoGP scene, and it’s not gone unnoticed by Valentino Rossi.
The Australian rider hasn’t followed the traditional route into Grand Prix motorcycle racing, jumping straight into Moto2 in 2022. After a couple of challenging seasons, he started to find his form last year and is now viewed as a genuine title contender heading into 2026.
Agius picked up two wins last year, including one at Phillip Island, and has carried that momentum into this season. Fresh off a win at COTA, he’s drawing plenty of attention – even catching the eye of one of the sport’s biggest names.
The 20-year-old made quite an impression on Rossi during his first visit to the Italian’s ranch in Tavullia. Accompanied by his manager, Chaz Davies – a former Ducati rider in both MotoGP and WorldSBK – Agius surprised even those who thought they’d seen it all.

Valentino Rossi was left amazed by Senna Agius’ showing at his own ranch
Speaking on the Paddock Pass Podcast, Davies spoke about Agius’ outing: “I understand his talent for what it is and how adaptable he is. As a quick example, I took him last year to the ranch at Valentino’s.
“He’d never been there before. I’ve been there back in the day, and I know Senna’s a quick flat track rider, but he was… the 100 km race starts. He’s leading it.
“And he was in the top few fastest guys during the race. He ended up crashing during that first stint, but that was the strategy. I’m like, ‘Go there and make a splash and let’s see what happens. At least you’re going to turn some heads.’
“And he did, and he was one of the fastest riders in the race. And Valentino in the evening goes to me at the party, he was like… I won’t share exactly what he said!
“But he was like, ‘Beep. That was super impressive. Beep beep! Senna’s got some skills.’ So, I’ll take it from him.”
Senna Agius drawing interest from MotoGP teams for 2027
Senna Agius’ impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. He was already on the radar of MotoGP teams in 2026, even though a move didn’t come through at the time.
Now, with his strong form continuing into this season, there’s growing interest from several manufacturers in the 20-year-old rider.
One possibility could be a move to Pramac Yamaha, replacing fellow Aussie Jack Miller if he decides to step away from the premier class. The series is keen to have Australian representation on the grid next year, especially with the Adelaide GP on the calendar.
KTM is also a potential option, as they’ve left their second seat alongside Alex Marquez unfilled. Maverick Vinales was originally linked to the spot, but Agius’ rise in Moto2 may force them to reconsider their plans.
