Hollywood has often used tennis as an inspiration, with several movies based around the sport.
Challengers, Match Point, and Wimbledon have all used the sport as a backdrop, while some players have featured on the silver screen.
John McEnroe has played himself on a number of occasions on the big screen, including in You Don’t Mess with the Zohan and Anger Management.
In 2012, the 24-time Grand Slam champion did exactly the same by appearing in the hit action film, The Expendables 2.

Novak Djokovic’s role in The Expendables 2
Djokovic made headlines by making a cameo appearance in The Expendables 2 alongside some of the biggest action stars in the world.
The Serbian appeared alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, and Sylvester Stallone in an action scene that required him to attack people with his tennis racquet.
For tennis fans, the most bizarre aspect of Djokovic’s cameo in the Hollywood film was not his acting debut.
It stunned fans because Djokovic was holding his racquet one-handed, rather than his trademark two-handed backhand.
The star jetted off to Bulgaria to film the scene, but it was unfortunately cut from the theatrical version of the film.
Novak Djokovic’s further appearances in film and TV
While Djokovic has not appeared in another Hollywood film, he has made countless appearances in TV shows.
The star featured in Roger Federer’s documentary film, Federer: Twelve Final Days, to discuss his great rival’s legacy.
Djokovic also appeared in a mockumentary reality TV show called The Tour: A Reality Show, which featured scripted storylines.
The Serbian appeared alongside several top stars in tennis, including Andy Murray, Andrey Rublev, and Holger Rune.
