Newcastle are planning an open-top bus parade if they manage to win the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
The Magpies are aiming to win their first major trophy since lifting the 1955 FA Cup, and if Eddie Howe manages to make history with a win over Manchester United, fans will be able to congratulate the Magpies on the streets of Tyneside.

Newcastle Carabao Cup open-top bus parade
Well – according to the Daily Mail – Newcastle will hold a parade around Tyneside on Tuesday if they beat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final.
Therefore, it would be wise for supporters to book Tuesday off work – if they still can – just in case the Magpies overcome the Red Devils.
As things stand, the route for a potential bus parade is still being planned by Newcastle.
If Newcastle end up suffering heartbreak in the Carabao Cup final, the Magpies will not be parading themselves around the city again like they did in 1974, 1998 and 1999.
Newcastle decided to have an open-top bus parade after losing the FA Cup final in those years, a decision which Alan Shearer later described as “embarrassing” to be involved in.
The Daily Mail quote the Premier League’s all-time top scorer as saying: “It was like do we really have to do a parade the next day? Just cancel it, we haven’t got an FA Cup to show off.
“But it just shows how desperate Newcastle fans are for success, because there were hundreds of thousands of fans from Gosforth Park to the Civic Centre. It was unbelievable. Absolutely outrageous. Then we had to say thanks at the Civic Centre. It was embarrassing.”
In our view, that is the correct decision from Newcastle.
Losing a cup final is an incredibly painful thing for everybody involved, and it would be best to simply move on if Manchester United do end up getting their hands on the Carabao Cup this Sunday.
