Well – according to Sky Sports – Toney is facing a ban of at least six months.
It is said that Brentford want it to start as soon as possible so they can have their No.17 – who has scored 14 Premier League goals so far this season – back in time for the 2023/24 campaign.
However, that may not be the case.
Sky Sports believe Toney’s ban will be issued once a hearing has taken place, which is likely to happen in April.
Sky Sports explain how the Football Association will now dissect the striker’s response to the charges before announcing an official hearing date.
It will then be down to an Independent Regulatory Commission to make a final decision and issue Toney a punishment.
Therefore, the Englishman is unlikely to be banned before April at the earliest.
Interestingly, it is said that Toney’s ban would also include the summer months, which Brentford will be pleased about given the circumstances.
That would mean the former Newcastle striker is unable to take part in pre-season for the Bees, or train with his teammates.
However, it would at least mean Thomas Frank is without his talisman for less time than he would be if the ban started in time for the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign.
