Speaking on his podcast, Phil Hay has delivered an interesting update on Ezgjan Alioski’s future at Leeds United.

There has been plenty of speculation about the North Macedonian’s future at the club, and while reports have circulated about a potential move away from Elland Road, Hay says that the club believe that Alioski will stay.

However, the player seems to want certain assurances in terms of salary and length of contract if he is to stay at the club.

“When I speak to Leeds it still sounds to me like they think he will stick around, as if he will take an extension to his contract, but it’s going to depend on the terms of it, and more than anything the length of it, because he’s getting to the back end of his 20s now and he needs to look after himself and make the right decision.

“There was no doubt when we asked Bielsa about it that Bielsa wanted him to stay too, that was very clear, but it’s probably playing on Alioski’s mind that if another left-back comes in it might not be easy to play.”

It sounds as though Leeds will have to make Alioski a decent offer to keep him at the club.

Of course, the 29-year-old will want to be playing football, and with Leeds being linked to the likes of Romain Perraud, that could see Alioski fall down the pecking order at Elland Road.

However, the club seem to be confident that he will decide to stay, which is good news as Alioski has made himself into something of a cult hero at Elland Road, and he deserves the chance to play in front of fans in the Premier League.
