Speaking on Joe Cole’s Podcast on BT Sport’s YouTube channel, Jordan Henderson has been discussing Jurgen Klopp.
The England midfielder has been working under Klopp for six years now, and it’s fair to say that he’s one of the Liverpool boss’ most trusted lieutenants.
Henderson, of course, worked under both Kenny Dalglish and Brendan Rodgers at Anfield before Klopp’s arrival, and while Dalglish and Rodgers were both fine managers in their own right, the ex-Sunderland man says he was incredibly excited when he heard that Klopp was coming to the club.

What’s been said?
Henderson discussed how he felt when Klopp first arrived at the club.
“I was excited for him coming in. I’d watched Dortmund quite a lot and I loved Dortmund, the way they played, their energy. They didn’t have superstars yet in that team, he made them superstars in the end, but like Gundogan, Reus and players like that, the way they played, I watched them in the Bernabeu in a Champions League semi-final and they were incredible,” Henderson said.
“When I heard he’s coming, I’m excited because I knew the type of football and I felt that suited the way I played, the energy, the press, the intense football. I loved all that. I was excited in one part, but in another part I was disappointed because I was injured and I couldn’t get straight into it.”
Exceeded all expectations
Henderson was keen to see Klopp arrive at Anfield, but even he can’t have predicted just how incredible this era would be for the Reds.
Indeed, Klopp arrived with a lot of fanfare, but even the most optimistic Liverpool supporter won’t have tipped the German to genuinely become one of the very best managers in Premier League history.
This Klopp era has exceeded any and all expectations, and in years to come, Klopp will be seen as one of the biggest legends in Anfield history.
