Patrick Bamford has admitted on the Leeds United podcast that he noticed just how tired the team looked on Saturday after he was taken off.

Leeds were beaten 2-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, with Bamford taken off just before the hour mark.

Bamford couldn’t really get involved in the match – although that owed partly to the lack of service he received from his teammates.

And the Leeds striker said: “No [I didn’t enjoy it]. It was one of them. I think the last few games took their toll on the team, not just physically but mentally drained.

“When I came off and was watching we didn’t look like our normal selves, we looked a yard off it and just looked tired.”

Leeds could hardly be blamed for being a bit fatigued in the contest.

The Whites had just come through a run of games against Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United unbeaten prior to the match.

The efforts required to accomplish that achievement simply cannot be overstated, which means nobody can be too harsh on Leeds after their latest defeat.

Bamford’s form has also dipped a little recently – with the striker hitting just two goals in his last 12 games.

But the Leeds striker can still reflect on an excellent season, after bagging 14 goals in the Premier League already.
