The summer 2024 transfer window is open but clubs must keep in mind when the market closes after Europe’s top five leagues opted to bring deadline day forward.
Most Premier League sides opted to keep their powder dry during the last winter window as their rivals fell foul of the division’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR). Yet the new financial year has already seen teams sign their top targets and make deals to avoid breaching PSR.
Everton twice drew points deductions from an independent panel for breaching PSR but still avoided relegation. Nottingham Forest also avoided the drop after they breached PSR. Yet it took Premier League clubs just four days this summer to outspend the total set this January.
Aston Villa frantically sought to secure a raft of transfers before the PSR deadline of June 30. Chelsea, Everton and Newcastle United were also active ahead of the mini-deadline day this summer. But many teams will wait for the real deadline day to conclude their transfer plans.

When does the summer 2024 transfer window close to Premier League clubs?
Officially, the summer 2024 transfer window opened for Premier League clubs on June 14. It did not truly open before July 1, however, as the international transfer window then started.
The summer 2024 transfer window also remains open for Premier League clubs until August 30, with deadline day drawing to a close at 23:00 BST, and does not re-open until January 1.
Europe’s top five leagues agreed to bring deadline day forward to Friday, August 30 for 2024 as the month ends on a Saturday. The divisions felt closing the market on the Friday was the right option, having previously extended windows that ended on a Saturday into September.
When does the summer 2024 transfer window close to Championship clubs?
All Football League teams across the Championship, League One and League Two also have until August 30 at 23:00 BST to wrap up their transfer activity in the summer 2024 window.
When does the summer 2024 transfer window close to Bundesliga clubs?
The Bundesliga will be the first division among Europe’s top five leagues to close its summer 2024 transfer window. German top-flight squads will have until 18:00 CEST, or 17:00 BST, on August 30 to secure all last-ditch deals in the hope of taking the title from Bayer Leverkusen.
When does the summer 2024 transfer window close to Serie A clubs?
Serie A will afford its 20 teams until 20:00 CEST (19:00 BST) on August 30 before the Italian top-flight will close its summer 2024 transfer window, which opened for business on July 1.

Ligue 1 will give its clubs until 23:00 CEST (22:00 BST) on August 30 to finalise their transfer plans before it closes the summer 2024 window, which only opened for business on July 1.
