Later this year, footballing history will be made as we all experience the first ever World Cup to be held during winter.
It will be a strange feeling.
The likes of Harry Kane, John Stones and Raheem Sterling will be watched by people wrapping up in warm clothes, drinking hot drinks, as opposed to being out in shorts, in the sun, cold drink in hand.
So, when does this historic World Cup actually start, and what does it mean for the Premier League? Here are all the details…
When does the Premier League stop for the 2022 World Cup?
The 2022 World Cup begins on November 21st, with the Premier League set to be suspended roughly a week before.
Matchday 16 will be the final round of fixtures before the break, with those games falling on the weekend of November 12th and 13th.

Then, the call-up period will begin on Monday 14th November, where international managers select their squads.
The season will be adjusted slightly to accommodate the tournament, with the opening day now set to take place on the earlier date of August 6th.
When will the Premier League restart after the 2022 World Cup?
The 2022 World Cup final will take place on Sunday 18th December 2022, and there won’t be much time for English players to celebrate if the Three Lions are successful in Qatar.
Boxing Day marks the return of the Premier League, so Gareth Southgate’s men will be in for a busy eight days once the tournament is over.

Due to the aforementioned adjustment, the 2022/23 Premier League campaign will end slightly later than usual on May 28th.
It will be a very unusual edition of the World Cup, although it’s sure to be a memorable one.
