Noel Whelan has suggested to BBC Radio Leeds that Queens Park Rangers defender Jake Bidwell and Preston North End forward Jordan Hugill would be good signings for Leeds United in the January transfer window.

Bidwell is one of the best left-backs in the Championship, and the 24-year-old QPR star can also operate as a left-sided midfielder.

Hugill has been on the books of Preston since 2014 and is playing relatively well in the Championship at the moment.

Leeds won 3-1 against QPR away from home at Loftus Road in the Championship last weekend and are back in the race for the playoffs.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are seventh in the league table at the moment with 33 points from 21 matches, just four points behind sixth-placed Sheffield United.
