Aston Villa fans try and work out if Tony Xia’s latest tweet refers to club signing Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull and Stoke’s Glenn Whelan.
Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has sent fans into a frenzy once again with another of his cryptic tweets, which have accompanied the announcement of a signing so far over the summer.
Sent in the early hours of the morning, Villa supporters have been quickly trying to identify what Xia is referring to and there are a number of interesting theories.
According to the Hull Daily Mail, the deal taking Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City to Villa Park in a £1m deal will go through in the next 24 hours.
Elmohamady has flown home from the Tigers’ pre-season tour of Portugal to undergo a medical and sign for Steve Bruce for the third time in his career.
Glenn Whelan, another player consistently mentioned, has been strongly linked as well and the Stoke Sentinel says Stoke City will also sell the midfielder for £1m.
There are also a number of players expected to leave the Birmingham club over the summer, with the Telegraph reporting Jordan Amavi, Tommy Elphick and Jordan Veretout are among them.
