Harry Rednapp has reiterated his claim that Tottenham Hotspur can challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title this season, as quoted in The Sun.
On transfer deadline day last Monday, former Tottenham manager Redknapp told Sky Sports that Jose Mourinho’s side can compete with the Reds and the Citizens for the title.
Redknapp highlighted Spurs’ strong attacking lineup, with Gareth Bale joining forces with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
The former West Ham United manager has reiterated the claim he made on Sky Sports, stating that Spurs can be “serious title challengers this season”.
Redknapp wrote in The Sun: “I’ve come in for a bit of stick for suggesting Spurs can be serious title challengers this season, but what’s so daft about that? It is pretty obvious no one is going to run away with it like Liverpool last time — and some of the results have been real coupon busters.
“And I know Tottenham have been a bit of a mixed bag themselves, even if how well they played at Old Trafford was almost ignored as most people focused on how bad United were. But they will be there or thereabouts this season, even though I do think the eventual champions will once again be either Liverpool or Manchester City.
“You cannot knock the squad Jose Mourinho’s built, though, and there is genuine competition for every single position. “It’s packed with internationals and the depth means that they’re far better placed to handle the inevitable injuries.
“OK, they might still fall short, but it would hardly be the strangest of outcomes in these strangest of times.”
Can Tottenham Hotspur challenge for Premier League title?
Liverpool and City have not been great so far this season, with the defending champions losing heavily to Aston Villa and the Citizens suffering a defeat to Leicester City already.
Tottenham are doing well at the moment and hammered Manchester United before the international break.
With Bale now in the squad and with Mourinho in charge, anything is possible for Tottenham, if they are able to maintain consistency and put together a run of positive results from this coming weekend.
