Jose Enrique has been left baffled by Neil Warnock’s claim that struggling Everton star, Dele Alli, would become a ‘hell of a player’ at Liverpool, as he posted on Twitter.
The former Liverpool man added ‘I don’t know what he’s talking about’, with Alli yet to start a game for relegation-threatened Everton, months after leaving Tottenham.
During his days at Spurs, well the early years certainly, Alli was seen as one of the best youngsters in world football.
But once the 26-year-old hit a brick wall, he failed to recover, struggling under various managers, including Antonio Conte being happy to see him leave for Everton in January.
Since that move, he is yet to start a game, but recently-retired English coach, Warnock, thinks Everton aren’t good enough for him and he would thrive in Liverpool colours.
Enrique was reacting to such comments, but he wasn’t having any of it, as he sent this message.
There are suggestions that Everton could part ways with Alli this summer, less than six months after bringing him to the club.
Given that the Toffees are in the worst period in recent times, it tells you everything you need to know about Alli’s career.
Nevermind Liverpool, the attacking midfielder would be lucky to sign up for a newly-promoted side if Everton get rid of him in the summer.
That fresh-faced youngster that first came onto the Premier League scene would do wonders at Liverpool, but Alli is far from that player now.
