Patrick Bamford has been speaking to Bianca Westwood on Sky Sports about Jesse Marsch, where he shared some interesting comments.
Specifically, the £7m striker discussed the American’s decision to gather the squad for a huddle on the pitch, after the 1-0 defeat to Leicester.
What’s the story?
Well, Marsch’s huddle drew plenty of attention across English football, as it isn’t something people are used to on these shores.
Bamford actually admits that the Leeds squad found it “a bit strange” at first, but he now completely understands the 48-year-old’s decision.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the 28-year-old said: “You know when we did the huddle on the pitch? I saw a lot of people thinking, what’s he doing? And even us, the lads, were like, this is a bit strange, but afterwards, we understood it.”
In our view, there are plenty of parallels between the huddle and something Jürgen Klopp did when he first arrived at Liverpool.
Back in 2015, the German gathered his players in front of the Kop at Anfield to celebrate a 2-2 draw against West Brom, a move which was heavily mocked at the time.
However, it was all about building togetherness within the squad, and just look at the Reds now.
Leeds are lucky to have Jesse Marsch

Given the nature of his arrival, it’s easy to forget how much of a coup Marsch was for Leeds.
The American forged a glowing reputation for himself at RB Salzburg, where he went toe-to-toe with Liverpool in the Champions League, while developing the likes of Erling Haaland, Takumi Minamino and Hwang-hee Chan.
Marsch then earned a move to the ambitious RB Leipzig, who beat a number of other top teams to his signature.

Of course, it was hard to take all of this into account given the pain of Marcelo Bielsa departing, but now, Leeds fans should appreciate who they have in the dugout.
If he can guide them to survival this season, then next term will surely be a very exciting campaign indeed.
