Ian Wright thinks Newcastle United are now building foundations at the club whereby ‘top players’ will be wanting to join.
Newcastle are sitting in the Champions League places after 15 Premier League matches and they have made huge strides since their Saudi-led takeover in 2021.
From Eddie Howe’s coaching ability, which is bringing out the best in previously-struggling players, like Miguel Almiron, to being able to splash the cash on players like Bruno Guimarães.
It’s all lifted a previously-toxic, ambitious-less mood around St James’ Park.
Looking at it from the outside, Arsenal legend Ian Wright thinks certain players will be liking what they are seeing from the club and then wanting to join, as he told Premier League Productions.
“What’s happening is that, if I am on the outside, looking in at Newcastle and what they are doing at Newcastle,” said Wright. “They are in and around it. And I am one of the players looking to come here as a top player.
“Now, all of a sudden, Newcastle, they will pay good money. They have an unbelievable fan base. At the moment, they are laying down the foundations for players to look in and say ‘well, that is a place I could go to as well’.

The previous two transfer windows have been outstanding from Newcastle and it has played a big part in them being in their current situation.
But, as of this moment, they are flying high, not just pushing for Europe, but Champions League football also.
Given that position, when players return from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, should they go out to sign the best players in order to increase their chances of a top-four finish?
Or do they continue to take small steps and let their current positive mood just flow? Either way, these are exciting times for all involved.
