For a start, the Hammers left their fabled Upton Park for pastures new in the Olympic Stadium, and have also forgotten how to win football matches on the whole, with Slavan Bilic’s side toying with relegation this season, though the recent 1-0 victory over Swansea City should see Bilic’s men survive fairly comfortably.
The Hammers have also lost their best player in Dimitri Payet, and this time last year, a Payet inspired West Ham were flying in the league and found themselves in sixth place, one point behind fifth placed Manchester United, and had just drawn 3-3 with Arsenal courtesy of a hattrick from Andy Carroll.
West Ham did exit the FA Cup a few days after the Arsenal match to the Red Devils, after losing a replay 2-1, but their form this campaign is in stark contrast to how the Hammers took the Premier League by storm last season.

The Hammers are currently 14th in the Premier League, eight points clear of the relegation zone sat on 36 points, while last season they had 52 points at this stage – an amount West Ham might not even amass this season.
Payet’s untimely departure, and taking time to adapt to their new stadium hasn’t helped their form, but it’s staggering to think in the space of just one year, West Ham have gone from Europa League hopefuls to flirting with relegation.
