Leeds United are reportedly on the verge of signing Ryan Edmondson, so what happened to a former striker starlet they signed a few years ago?

Leeds fans would have been intrigued to see the news coming from The York Press last week which suggested that the Whites were seemingly on the verge of signing York City striker Ryan Edmondson.
The 16-year-old made his senior team debut earlier this season, but The York Press reports that his move to Elland Road is likely to be confirmed this week.

For some fans, they would be forgiven for looking at the news that they are reportedly set to sign a new, young forward and wondering about whatever happened to Robbie McDaid, the striker Leeds signed in 2014 but released two years later before he made a first-team appearance for the club.
McDaid, 17 at the time of his arrival, looked like he may be set for a bright future, especially after he enjoyed a promising loan spell at Lincoln, scoring four in 17 league appearances, which is arguably not too bad a return when you consider he started just three times.

However, he ended up joining York – the team Leeds are reportedly set to sign Edmondson from, of course – in 2016 on a free transfer, and he left less than one year later, returning to Northern Ireland to join Glentoran.
It is there that McDaid has arguably given the biggest indication of his potential, scoring three goals in his first two appearances for the club.
And the 21-year-old was back in the goals on Tuesday night, scoring the opener in their clash with Glenavon, taking his tally to four in seven games to hint that he is getting his career back on track.
