Manchester United have reportedly renewed their interest in West Ham United’s Domingos Quina, who was a summer target for Sheffield United.
A player Sheffield United tried to sign in August is now on Manchester United’s radar, according to ESPN. The broadcaster reports that the Red Devils have renewed their interest in West Ham United’s Domingos Quina and sent scouts to watch him on international duty this week.
According to the Sheffield Star, Quina was scheduled to have a medical at Sheffield United on deadline day, ahead of a temporary move from West Ham. But the deal was later aborted, for which Blades boss Chris Wider blamed “outside influences”.
Since then, Sheffield United have flourished, and sit two points off the Championship’s summit in second place, while Quina has played a mere 15 minutes of League Cup football – plus another 152 for West Ham’s Under-23s in the Football League Trophy.
Still, it seems he has done enough to make an impression, as Manchester United are not the only team to take a shine to the Portuguese attacking midfielder, with the Mirror reporting that Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest.
But it is interesting to wonder what might have been had Sheffield United got their man. Would they be even higher in the table? Would David Brooks have got his chance? Would the Welshman’s plaudits have gone Quina’s way instead? Will anyone even care?
I guess all it does is reinforce one thing: That Wilder can spot a player.
