Is it bad news if Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers pursue Dominic Iorfa?

James Tavernier of Rangers controls the ball during the Betfred League Cup Quarter Final at Firhill Stadium on September 19, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to The Sun, Rangers want to sign Dominic Iorfa in January.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender is out of the picture at Molineux and it looks like Rangers boss Steven Gerrard might be weighing up a £500,000 move.

But fans of the Ibrox club should be concerned if the transfer goes through.

Iorfa, who can play centre-back, is predominantly a right-back and if a move to Glasgow materialises it might well indicate that Gerrard is worried about losing James Tavernier.

The Gers defender has been exceptional this season and is clearly playing out of his skin under Gerrard.

It wouldn’t be a major surprise if there was increased speculation about his future at Ibrox as January approaches.

In fact, the Daily Mail reported that Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have made him a target this winter, while West Bromwich Albion have also been credited with an interest.

Iorfa, who stands at 6’4, would be an exciting addition, given his talent, but would Gerrard recruit somebody of his calibre if he was confident that Tavernier was staying?

Only time will tell.
