‘What world do you live’: Some Arsenal fans react to Edu’s claim about player he signed

Arsenal fans have been left baffled by Edu’s comments on the club’s recently departed flop, Willian.

Edu told Sky Sports that Arsenal signed Willian for Chelsea, so he can bring ‘experience’ to their table and have an instant impact.

That did happen…for one game, on his debut, when he assisted twice against newly-promoted Fulham, who were then relegated at the end of the campaign.

That game was touched upon by Arsenal’s technical director and how it had the ‘wow’ factor.

But for 37 Premier League games onwards, things started to go downhill pretty fast for the winger.

Although, Edu feels Willian’s performances were ‘inconsistent’ rather than consistently poor, which the Arsenal fans think they were during that period.

Not only that, Edu mentioned that he, Willian and Arteta sat down with the player at the end of last season to discuss his situation at the club.

And the Arsenal faithful have rightfully asked why it took them so long to sit around a table together.

For weeks and weeks, for months and months, it was obvious that this Willian signing, even though it was a free transfer, wasn’t working.

Yet only until the final ball was kicked did those making the key decisions decide to make important moves.

It was too late by then, wasn’t it?! Because the Gunners missed out on European football altogether for the first time in 25 years.
