According a report in The Daily Record, Gerrard has told Rangers winger Jones that he can leave the Gers in the summer transfer window.
The report claimed of interest in the Northern Ireland international from Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.
However, Gerrard has said that he is happy with the 25-year-old, and has urged him to continue to work hard.
Gerrard told HeraldScotland about Jones: “I am looking to strengthen in the forward area, but in terms of Jordan, he has come back, trained hard and been focused.
“I don’t know where that noise has come from, but it certainly hasn’t come from our side. Jordan just needs to keep his head down and keep on working hard. What will be, will be.”
Rangers stay
Jones had injury problems at Rangers last season, and when he was fit and available, the Northern Ireland international winger could not play regularly due to competition for places.
However, that should not take away from the fact that the 25-year-old is a very good winger and should be kept at Rangers for at least one more season.
With the Gers aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, the Glasgow giants will need a big squad.
Rangers will take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
