In 2022, Roger Federer finally retired from professional tennis at the Laver Cup.
The Swiss played his last match representing Team Europe in doubles alongside longtime rival Rafael Nadal, against the duo of Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock.
Federer put together one of the greatest careers in the sport’s history, having clinched 103 tour-level titles.

Of his total tally, 20 were claimed at Grand Slams, which ranks third all-time behind Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who have 22 and 24, respectively.
When Federer called it quits on his playing days, sports stars from all over the world took the time to congratulate him, including NFL legend Tom Brady.
Tom Brady’s comments about Roger Federer back in 2022
As per Fox Sports, discussing Federer after his final match, Brady said: “Phenomenal. Just a great player.
“He’s just a great competitor, and I think all those guys … We all work so hard, I think. We all do. I’m sure you guys do too.
“You’re at the top of your profession, too. We’re all just working hard trying to be the best we can be at it, and he had a great run.
“Always respectful of everybody, and it meant a lot. He cared a lot. He maximised his opportunities. That’s all we can all ask of ourselves.”

Roger Federer said he would not ‘unretire’ like Tom Brady
Shortly after announcing his retirement, Federer appeared in an interview with NBC Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, who asked him if he was sure he wanted to hang it up.
Guthrie mentioned how Brady came out of retirement in 2022, and stated ‘unretiring is a thing now’.
Federer was adamant he was done, however, responding: “I know that, yeah. No, no. I am definitely done.”
Since finishing his professional career, Federer has featured in a number of exhibition events and is set to play another at the upcoming Australian Open in January.
He will take to the court in Melbourne with fellow tennis greats Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt.
