Some Liverpool fans on Twitter are stunned by a report about Ismaila Sarr.
The relegated Watford winger is reportedly on the Reds’ radar this summer.
But according to The Standard, Liverpool will have to spend some £40 million if they want to bring him to Anfield.
The Hornets spent £35 million on signing the former Rennes attacker last summer and they’re determined to make a profit, despite being demoted to the Championship this past season.
Despite winning the Premier League, Liverpool don’t seem prepared to splash the cash, evident by the fact that they failed to cough up the £47.5 million needed to sign Timo Werner from Leipzig.
And if they’re willing to pass on Werner, somebody who the Merseyside club had been tracking for a couple of years, then Reds fans can’t fathom how or why they’re going to spend so much on Sarr.
Here’s how Liverpool supporters reacted to Sarr’s reported price tag.
If we’re honest, this is just Watford trying their luck.
There’s no way Liverpool – or anyone else – will be paying anywhere near that amount for Sarr, who scored five Premier League goals in 28 outings last season.
The talent is definitely there, as he showed against Arsenal on the final day of the season, but this is absolutely not a £40 million player and if Jurgen Klopp is genuinely interested, he’ll know he can pick him up for much less.
