Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, in the aftermath of his side’s woeful showing against Sheffield United yesterday, and shared how he warned his players before the game about the Blades making a quick start and scoring early on.

The Villans have endured a torrid week, having been dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League One side Burton Albion, and then losing 4-1 to Sheffield United in the Championship.

Bruce’s men now sit in 12th spot in the table, and have to wait two weeks until they play again, what with the two-week international break.

Villa were up against it early yesterday, after the Blades scored in the sixth minute – something that Chris Wilder’s men are making a habit out of.

The Villa boss spoke to reporters after the game, and responded when asked whether he warned his team against the hosts starting brightly, as quoted by the club’s official website:

“We said that to them before – they did that to Bolton last time. They are a very good side.”

Next up for Villa is a trip to Blackburn Rovers on September 15th, and Bruce will be looking for a big response from his side.
