Stephen Curry has made a career out of redefining limits, but his next challenge might not come on a basketball court.

The Golden State Warriors star says he’s already thinking about what he could achieve in golf once his NBA days are done.

Curry’s love for the game is well known, but he’s genuinely serious about seeing how far he can take it.

The 36-year-old isn’t promising a PGA Tour switch, but he’s open to the next best thing.

Stephen Curry sets sights on PGA Tour Champions

Curry told Bunkered in October that joining the PGA Tour Champions is “on the radar” when he stops playing basketball.

He explained: “I say that with all due respect to the level of golfer that’s on the Champions Tour. I know it’s not going to be easy.

“Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, when you’re done playing, are you going to try to do Q School?’ There’s no way I’m doing that because I know what it would require of me to make that jump.

“If I can stay healthy, stay limber, go out there and qualify, use a Monday to qualify for a Champions Tour event, that would be definitely a lofty goal. But it’s something that I think I’m going to try to go after for sure.”

Players can join the PGA Tour Champions at 50 years of age, a stage reserved for elite golfers extending their careers.

For Curry, that window is more than a decade away, yet it already sits in his long-term sights.

Stephen Curry reflects on his Korn Ferry Tour experience

The NBA star also revisited his appearances on the Korn Ferry Tour, where he played as a sponsor’s exemption in 2017 and 2018.

“If the timing and the opportunity were right,” Curry said he would be interested in doing it again. “I know there’s a lot of commentary about that.

“I took two sponsor’s exemptions for the Korn Ferry Tour back in 17 and 18, and there was that chatter of, ‘Oh, I’m taking up a spot’, and it’s like, ‘That’s not how it works.’”

“Sponsor exemptions are going to go to whoever the sponsor wants them to go to, and if it’s in the best interest of creating some hype around the tournament, that also brings value.”

Still, Curry set clear standards for himself. “It would have to be when my game was tight,” he added. “I’m not going to go out there and embarrass myself.”

That mindset fits perfectly with his career. Whether on hardwood or fairway, Curry respects the challenge and never fakes the work.
