Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award.
As per the Premier League’s official website, Smith is in contention to win the award. The Villa boss has had an excellent September, with wins against Manchester United and Everton obvious highlights.
Smith faces strong competition for the prize, though, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp are also up for the accolade, as well as Brighton and Hove Albion coach Graham Potter.
Indeed, the Villa manager has done well given the mixed first month of the campaign. Smith’s side currently find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League, just three points off the top four.
There were worries ahead of this season whether Villa would be able to perform following Jack Grealish’s move to Man City. However, Smith has put these early concerns to bed.
The Villa manager signed well in the form of Danny Ings and Leon Bailey. And the Birmingham-based club are looking strong despite injuries to key players and a few poor performances.
And on social media, Villa fans were buzzing that Smith had been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award.
