Sam Allardyce now looks set to replace Javi Gracia at Leeds United as relegation fears intensify at Elland Road.
Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth has left the Whites outside of the relegation zone only on goal difference with just four games remaining of the Premier League campaign.
As a result, Andrea Radrizzani and Angus Kinnear have turned to Allardyce to save them.
Interestingly, it comes just weeks after the 68-year-old was asked for his thoughts on taking over at Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Fabrizio Romano who revealed that Allardyce is now heading to Leeds.
Coincidentally, the old England boss was actually asked if he would take over at Elland Road back in February when speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast alongside Robbie Fowler.
Allardyce said: “Call me. If somebody called me, I wouldn’t turn down going and chatting away with them, certainly not Leeds United. I watched them last night against Manchester United, and from my point of view, I wouldn’t see a problem sorting them out.”
Clearly, the Dudley-born tactician is confident that he could go into Elland Road and clean up the mess.
However, Allardyce did make those comments back in February, so it remains to be seen if he still feels as confident with just four games remaining.
Allardyce can save Leeds
Hiring Allardyce really is a final throw of the dice from Radrizzani and Kinnear, although it could just work.
Leeds have Manchester City, Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham to play in their final four Premier League games this season.

As things stand, Leeds, Leicester and Nottingham Forest find themselves on 30 points, whereas Everton are on 29 points, so with Southampton already cut adrift on 24 points, two sides have a realistic chance of survival.
It will be tough, as Leeds do not have an easy run-in by any means.
Nevertheless, Leeds are yet to be cut adrift like Southampton, so all it will take is an immediate new manager bounce under Allardyce, and the Whites should just about survive another Premier League campaign by the skin of their teeth.
