Bryson DeChambeau has endured a really challenging season in the majors this year.
DeChambeau missed the cut in the first three majors of the year, but he did bounce back well with an opening round of 67 at The Open on Thursday.
However, he chose not to speak to the media once again, just like he has done all season long.
Bryson DeChambeau did speak to LIV reporters, but that was just a really obvious cop-out from him.
DeChambeau has been criticized heavily for not speaking with the world’s press, both ahead of and during major championships this year.

That is something that Rory McIlroy knows all about. The Northern Irishman ducked out of media duties for six straight rounds starting at the PGA Championship in 2025.
The six-time major champion received huge criticism himself for his actions, and rightly so.
The fans are what make the professional game what it is today and without them, the top players wouldn’t be anywhere near as rich as they are.
What Rory McIlroy said about skipping media as Bryson DeChambeau does it again at The Open
DeChambeau owes so much to his fans.
The fact that he hasn’t spoken to the media all year during the majors, aside from one short interview on Thursday at The Open just isn’t good enough.
The American is such an intriguing character. As golf fans, we deserve to watch him speak to reporters for 15 minutes or so during a press conference before each major begins.
The same can be said for McIlroy.
The man from Holywood, Northern Ireland, was asked back in 2025 whether golfers should be obligated to speak with the press after their rounds at tournaments.
“From a responsibility standpoint, look, I understand,“ McIlroy said.
“But if we all wanted to, we could all bypass (press conferences), and we could go on social media and we could talk about our round and do it our own way.

“We understand that that’s not ideal for you guys, and there’s a bigger dynamic at play here.
“I talk to the media a lot. I think there should be an understanding that this is a two-way street. We understand the benefit that comes from you being here and giving us the platform and everything else, so I understand that.“
In fairness to McIlroy, he does speak to the media almost every time.
It was just that one-month spell in 2025 when he chose to avoid press duties after his name was leaked as one of the players whose driver failed testing at the PGA Championship.
Bryson DeChambeau has a duty to speak to his fans
DeChambeau has to learn that he is in the same boat as McIlroy.
He must realize that he would simply be nothing without his fans.
There have been numerous opportunities for Bryson DeChambeau to face up to the media after key moments throughout his major season.
Come rain or shine, whether he has played well or poorly, DeChambeau owes it to his fans to speak up after each and every round.
What he does for a living is a huge privilege, and he mustn’t forget that.
Bryson DeChambeau is truly captivating when he speaks. He may well have been advised by his agents not to speak to the press at the majors this year, with everything that is going on with LIV Golf rumbling on in the background.
However, DeChambeau ducking out of press conferences is not only a bad look for him, but also for LIV Golf, who are trying to attract new investment right now.
Moving forward, media duties should not be optional for Bryson DeChambeau. He has so much to give, both on and off the golf course.
