Rafael Nadal is a diehard Real Madrid fan.

The Spaniard, a winner of 22 Grand Slam titles, has frequently expressed his love for the Spanish giants, who have won a record 15 European Cups and 36 La Liga titles.

Nadal became a fan of Los Blancos due to his dad’s – and his wider family’s – support of the club.

It is somewhat ironic that the Spanish legend supports Real Madrid, considering his uncle Miguel Angel Nadal, was a professional footballer for Barcelona.

Nadal’s love for Madrid is longstanding, and he has previously expressed a desire to be more involved with the club.

Rafael Nadal said he would like to be Real Madrid president

“Of course I’d like to be Real Madrid president. You never know what’ll happen in the future,” Nadal told MARCA in 2017.

“Anyhow, we have a great president now and I don’t think Real Madrid will need me.”

Last month the Spaniard was again asked about the position in an interview with former Real Madrid coach Jorge Valdano.

As reported by Forbes, Nadal said: “Right now, they have the best man for the job.

“I don’t know… conceptually, it must be a beautiful position to have. If I were to consider it, I would have to do so when I’m ready, part of me would like to be in a position where I could consider it, but I don’t know.”

Florentino Perez said Rafael Nadal is a ‘source of pride’ for Spain

Nadal announced his retirement from his playing career on October 10, 2024.

Following his announcement, Florentino Perez provided a short statement.

As per the Real Madrid website, Perez said: “Rafa Nadal is also a source of pride for our country and is an example of the core values of sport, with which he has forged his entire extraordinary career.”

Madrid recently defeated Talavera 3-2 in the Copa del Rey. The club are second in La Liga and seventh in the Champions League first phase.
