Jordan Spieth’s standing in the game has allowed him the opportunity to play with numerous different presidents of the United States throughout the years.

Spieth burst on the PGA Tour scene more than a decade ago now and at the time, it seemed like he had everything needed to challenge the major record of Jack Nicklaus.

The American won The Masters and The US Open in 2015 before securing The Open Championship title two years later in 2017

Unfortunately for Spieth, though, he has regressed since those halcyon days.

He has only two PGA Tour wins to his name since 2017 and he hasn’t recorded a major triumph for eight years now.

However, when he played golf with President Barack Obama back in 2017, he was very much the man of the moment.

Jordan Spieth admitted President Barack Obama beat him at golf

Spieth was at his absolute best eight years ago.

The Dallas native had just won the Open Championship to make it three major wins before his 24th birthday.

He also became only the second man to win three different majors before he turned 24, after Jack Nicklaus achieved the feat in 1963.

However, while Spieth got the better of his PGA Tour rivals more often than not, President Barack Obama proved to be a really tough opponent for him.

During an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden back in 2017, Spieth was asked if he had to let the President win.

So, no, quite the opposite, Spieth responded.

You can’t lose to him, or else, you know, he’s going to go tell people, I beat Jordan when we played.

So we had a two on two match. It came down to the last hole, and the President had, like, a 10 foot double-breaking putt.

This is my home course, and I’ve never seen anybody make the putt, and a small crowd gathered like, you know, you would expect, and he kind of said, You know, when there’s a crowd on the last hole, I never miss.

He steps up, and he knocks in this double-breaker with perfect speed right in the middle of the hole.

I had a putt that would have been to tie the match after, but it didn’t matter. He won the match with that putt.

And he said, Told you.

So now he doesn’t have to tell people, because I just told everyone! My pride’s been hurt.

President Obama the Spieth slayer

Obama is a decent golfer, and is believed to hold a handicap of around 13.

Spieth would have obviously had to give the former US President plenty of strokes when they played against each other.

However, it is still seriously impressive that Obama drained a 10-foot double-breaking putt to win the match on the final hole.

The now 64-year-old clearly thrived under highly-pressurized situations.

He clearly had to be able to handle tense situations during his spell in the Oval Office, and the mental strength he displayed during his presidency obviously translated to his performances out on the golf course.

To beat Jordan Spieth at golf, even with plenty of shots, is quite the achievement!
