What position does Anthony Gordon play? Newcastle fans have been asking this on Google as they close in on the 21-year-old.

The Magpies have now pencilled the Everton No.10 in for a medical on Tyneside after agreeing to pay £40m upfront, with a further £5m in potential add-ons according to Sky Sports.

Despite becoming a regular in the Premier League over the past 12 months, the England Under-21 international’s best position is a mystery to some Newcastle fans.

So, what position does Gordon play? Let’s take a look…

What position does Anthony Gordon play?

Well, Eddie Howe is getting his hands on a versatile player – to say the least.

Throughout his career, Gordon has played in every position across the attack, even as a central attacking midfielder.

Despite that, the Liverpool-born wonderkid’s best position is on the left.

Gordon has made 56 appearances on the left throughout his career – as shown on Transfermarkt – where he often tends to cut inside on his stronger right foot and test the goalkeeper.

However, the £45m man has also made 42 appearances on the right flank, so he is clearly comfortable on the other side of the attack, while his 24 appearances in a central position suggest Howe could also use him as a striker.

Of course, Newcastle are spending a lot of money on Gordon, but Howe is getting himself an option for every position across the frontline for his initial £40m payment.

Where did Anthony Gordon play before Everton?

Many have also been asking this on Google.

Before joining Everton’s youth ranks, Gordon spent time with Liverpool before he was released at the age of 11.

The Toffees then picked him up after their Merseyside rivals decided not to keep the talented forward, and the rest is history.

Gordon has since gone on to make 78 appearances for the first-team at Goodison Park, with his impressive displays earning the Toffees an initial £40m upfront, which is an excellent return.
